Sewing instructions and ideas for BERNINA India National lunch bag sewing contest

Here are the sewing instructions and ideas for sewing patterns for the "basic" lunch bag 

Materials: 

• 0.4 m outer fabric
• 0.4 m lining 
• BERNINA Sewing machine or any other brand sewing machine
• Edgestitch foot no. 10/10C or similar

Size:

31 * 16 * 12

Cutting out:

2x outer fabric and lining as per drawing above 

Basic Instructions:

Embellish bag, and depending on closure type, attach closure at this point. Place bag sections together with right sides facing and close side seams and base seam. Sew base corners with side seams and base seams meeting up precisely. Sew bag lining in the exact same way. Press seam allowances inwards on top edges of outer fabric and lining. Place one section inside the other with wrong sides facing and stitch top edges together with the edgestitch foot or similar.

Sew a lunch bag- send it to us- win a BERNINA 350 PE

To participate, you will have to sew a lunch bag as per sewing instructions for the contest provided on the website. The  Lunch bag size should be 37 x 28 cm : a tolerance of 10 % in size variation is allowed. The Lunch bag can be sewn on any brand of sewing machine and can be made of any material you like, could be paper, plastic, leather, canvas, vinyl or a mix of any kind of material, etc. It should have at least one creative element included like a quilting block, applique, painted, print, knitted, crocheted, folded, hand or machine embroidered part, etc.

Prizes: 

• The first prize winner will get a BERNINA 350 PE valued at Rs 104000,--*
• The second prize winner will get a BERNINA voucher of Rs 15000,--*
• The third prize winner will get a BERNINA voucher of Rs 10000,--*

* redeemable against purchase of BERNINA or bernette accessoires, PRYM notions , MADEIRA threads , VLIESELINE batting and special stabilizers from the BERNINA Creative Center in Mumbai.

The contestant has to be an individual and can be of any nationality, but should be staying in India in order to be eligible to participate in the sewing contest. One project per participant is only allowed. The contestant is not allowed to share his / her project anywhere before submission to us and before we share it on our Facebook page. The contestants should agree to let their works / projects be with BERNINA India for a period of 6 – 9 months after the last date of submission for their projects to be shown in a touring exhibition either in India or anywhere worldwide through BERNINA International.

Voting: 

In order for the voting to take place, we require :

• Your physical project with us latest by 30th May 2016 as specified above.
• Your project’s high resolution photo via email by 30th May 2016, with your name, address and contact number to us at :berninaindia@gmail.com and berninacreativecenter@gmail.com with email subject matter as : "BERNINA India sewing contest project entry photo submission"

We will collect all the entries and show case them all together on the BERNINA India Facebook page on and after the 1st June , 2016 for all our fans and admirers to vote ‘their best choice‘ and for everybody to like, share and admire them.

Winners will be decided by our team of education experts from BERNINA International AG, Switzerland and BERNINA India and the announcement of the prize winners will be done on the 13th of June, 2016 which is the ‘ International Sewing Machine Day ‘ at the award ceremony at the BERNINA Creative Center in Mumbai.

Contestants may also submit their best food recipe when presenting their project to the contest. This recipe should be allowed to be shared by us in our sewing contest recipe book or on our website or blogs globally.
